Everybody agrees that La Temporada (Music and Dance Season) held in Andorra la Vella with the sponsorship of MoraBanc is an eclectic and exciting event intended to cater for all tastes and preferences. A mosaic in which musicians and dancers of different styles and from far-flung places form a line-up of a whole host of top international artistic talent: orchestras, solo artists and dance companies with productions that have been staged at the world's most important venues.

For 2017, the billing will disappoint nobody. On the contrary, the programme will as always bring together a mixture of classical music and dance, as well as rock, pop and song with the Argentine tango.

The first of these events will take place on Friday 24 February with one of the most acclaimed pianists of our time, the Frenchman Alexandre Tharaud, who will play a concert with works by Beethoven, Schubert and Rachmaninoff.

The second, which will be on 3 March, will be dedicated to ballet in the expert hands of a group that remains true to the discipline of classical ballet called The Bad Boys with a ground-breaking show: Rock the Ballet. To the music of rock bands, the seven dancers in this American company will fill the stage of the Congress Centre with a fast-paced vitality.

On 17 March the exceptional Italian mezzosoprano Cecilia Bartoli, one of the undisputed stars of opera currently around, will be giving a performance. It will be a grand gala in which the prodigious voice will be heard singing as nobody else can extracts from operas written by composers such as Handel, Vivaldi, Mozart and Rossini. On this occasion, she will be accompanied on the piano by her fellow countryman Sergio Ciomei. Later on 28 April the Broadway show Forever Tango will be staged, an impressive selection of tangos performed by Argentines who have grown up with the tango from a very early age. Seen through the screen of the world of musicals on New York's great musical thoroughfare, Forever Tango takes us back to the universe of some of the most influential authors of tango including Astor Piazzolla.

To end La Temporada, one of the leading pop artists of our day, the American Rufus Wainwright, will be descending on Andorra on 12 May. Sitting at his piano or just on his guitar, this much-admired singer-songwriter, who has had a longstanding invitation to perform in Andorra, will play some of his highly personal repertoire that have made him famous on the five continents.
